Sobi:African-Japanese Restaurant
The task for this project was to create and flesh out a concept for a restaurant, single handedly creating the imagery, name, and branding, and I used icons and color representative of both cultures. The main patterns were the traditional Japanese circular patterns with the bright colors used by Africa. Also, the slogan “Motherland of the rising sun” stems from Japan being the “land of the rising sun” and Africans referring to their home as the motherland. The premise of the restaurant was to show off that both cultures have so many cultural similarities, from what they eat to their respect for family and tradition.
